Title: Director of Technology
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate study, preferred
- Experience developing and implementing technology plans and training users
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience with both MAC and PC Platforms
- Experience with Telecommunications Systems
- Knowledge of Local and Wide Area Networks
- Multimedia Experience
- Network troubleshooting experience
- Internet and connectivity experience
- Knowledge of data communications and configuration experience
- Knowledge of instructional design and assessments
- Project management skills and/or experience
Unusual Time Requirements:
Emergency on call availability during hardware or software failure, or other technology related issues that require troubleshooting.
Reports to: Directors of Teaching and Learning
Job Goal: To develop and maintain an instructional technology plan for the K-12
educational programs, to direct the related staff development programs,
and to oversee maintenance of supporting software and hardware.
Performance Responsibilities:
- To develop and supervise the implementation of a technology plan in the K-12 instructional program.
- To direct and coordinate the integration of technology into the K-12 program.
- To direct and coordinate the district technology team members.
- To participate in the curriculum development and revision process to assure that technology is appropriately integrated into curriculum and instructional practices.
- To identify technology-related training needs for the professional staff. To coordinate, plan and direct the implementation of staff development programs in the area of instructional technology.
- To work with teachers in developing effective strategies by which they can carry out long and short-range goals to integrate technology into their approaches to teaching.
- To work with building principals to maintain policies and inventory of software.
- To maintain policy related to copyright and acceptable use.
- To work with principals to supervise the work of technology resource personnel in implementing the building-level technology plans.
- To oversee technology acquisition, replacement, maintenance, utilization and evaluation of technology resources to assure consistence with district and curricular goals.
- To supervise the ordering and distribution of technology resources throughout the district.
- To collaborate with administrative offices to assure appropriate technology compatibility throughout the district.
- To pursue funding sources for the acquisition of technology.
- To stay abreast of current trends in technology inside and outside of education.
- To keep the Board, parents and community informed as to the utilization of technology throughout the district.
- Manage/Coordinate Data and Student Reporting:
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of the district data processing system
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of the student information management system
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of the administrative office management system
- Providing training and education to district personnel on data processing, student information, and administrative office hardware and software
- To perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Directors of Teaching and Learning and/or Superintendent.
