Bus Monitor
5 Hours/day; Student days, plus additional days, as required
Transportation Department
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of a team
- Demonstrates integrity, honesty, patience, humor, compassion, courtesy, responsibility
- Experience in a job/volunteer activity that involved working with special needs children in an educational setting.
- Physically able to secure wheelchair students for a safe ride
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist with loading and unloading of special needs students and monitor those students while being transported to and from school
- Understands and monitors behavioral needs and anticipates situation when support may be needed
- Participates in training to develop the skills to work with special education students
- Assist driver with emergency management situations
- Communicate effectively with students, driver, and building supervisors regarding students’ safe ride to school
Hourly Rate: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement
